本種は日本で記載され、原色日本アザミウマ図鑑の原稿執筆時では関東地方でのみ知られており、オスは未知であったが、 Li et al. (2019)により中国からオスが記載された。 本種は関東地方では５～６月頃に、アオキやタブに多数の個体が発生し、おそらくこれらの植物が寄主植物と思われる。個体数が非常に多い時期には、近隣の寄主植物以外の植物にも多くの個体が観察できる。Li et al. (2019)によると本種のオスは第９背板後縁に1対の角状突起を備え、腹板は多数の小さな腺域を持つ。中国のタケから記載されたT. guizhouensis Li, Li & Zhang, 2019は本種に似るが、前胸背板の前縁中央部は褐色であること、腹部第３-6背板は中央部のみが褐色であることで識別できる。

This species was described from Japan. Thereafter, Li et al. (2019) recorded this species and first described male from China. In Kanto area of Honshu, Japan, many individuals of this species occur on leaves of Aucuba japonica and Machilus thunbergia in May to Jun. Probably this species feed on these plats but it is also found on nearby unrelated plants when it outbreaks. According to Li at al. (2019), male has abdominal tergite IX with paired drepanae and sternites with small pore plates scattered. T. guizhouensis Li, Li & Zhang, 2019 described from bamboo of China is similar to this species but it can be distinguished from the later species by pronotum dark at middle of anterior margin and abdominal tergites III-VI dark at middle only.
